Coordinates

A coordinate is used as the building block for the creation of all the vector entities described in the following topics and consists of a pair of values, describing the x and y location of the coordinate. Each entity may have one or more coordinate pairs. A point will clearly have a single coordinate, whereas a polyline or polygon may have many. Because a point is basically a coordinate, coordinates are often referred to just as points.

In the case where an entity has many coordinates, the order in which the coordinates are defined defines the order in which they should be connected.
