Polygon Rendering

Polygon Features can have the following properties to define their visualisation:

  • Fill Style. This may be set using the Style Combo Box. See Fill Styles for further information. For hollow polygons, choose a fill style of None.
  • Fill Colour. This may be set using the Colour Palette. See Colour Palettes for further information
  • Edge Style. This may be set using the Style Combo Box. See Fill Styles for further information
  • Edge Colour. This may be set using the Colour Palette. See Colour Palettes for further information.
  • Edge Thickness. This may be set using the Numeric Value Text Box. Edge Thickness Units. This may be set using the Dimension Units Combo Box. Note : changing this value will reset the Thickness to 1.

The value chosen for Thickness Units defines how the Thickness property is interpreted. Edges that have Thickness Units of Map Units, will get wider as the user zooms in. The calculated thickness is clamped so that it will always not disappear, nor be larger than 250 pixels.

In earlier releases of MapLink Pro, adding an Edge Style to polygons in a tiled output map led to the tile boundaries being displayed when they intersected the polygons. In some other situations, a small gap occasionally appeared between polygons at tile boundaries when a polygon had no edge style. The workaround for this required a simple edge to be added in the same colour as the fill. MapLink Pro no longer has these issues and so if no edge is required, the Edge Style should be set the None, rather than setting the Edge Colour to be the same as the Fill Colour.
